Empowering Puerto Rico with Resilient Energy Solutions

What is the Sunnova Flex Power Program™?

The Sunnova Flex Power Program™ is a pioneering Virtual Power Plant (VPP) initiative designed to enhance the energy resilience and reliability of Puerto Rico by leveraging the power of distributed battery systems.

Through the Battery Emergency Response Program (BEDRP), administered by PREPA/LUMA, home and business owners can contribute to a more stable grid while earning rewards for participating in energy demand response events.

How It Works

When grid demand is high or during emergency situations, Sunnova Flex Power participants allow their battery systems to be used to support the grid.

By dispatching stored energy during these events, you help stabilize the electrical system and reduce the need for additional fossil fuel-based power generation. Your battery will not discharge ahead of predicted hurricanes or other severe weather – so your backup power is safe! Additionally, Sunnova will cease discharge when the battery’s charge drops to 20%, ensuring that you are prepared for an outage.
