Frequently Asked Questions
Since your home’s solar system will be tied to your Wyoming electric provider (grid-tied), if you don’t have a battery storage system, your solar will not work during a power outage. You won’t be able to make or use solar energy while the grid is down. To have electricity during Wyoming power outages, you’ll need a solar + battery storage system.*
Solar panels are extremely durable and built to withstand the elements. While your system won’t typically need regular maintenance, your responsibilities will include:
- Trim any trees around your system that may block the sun from reaching your solar panels.
- Check that there’s no accumulation of leaves, debris, snow or critters under the solar panels.
- Depending on where you are in Wyoming, you may need to spray your solar panels with a garden hose to wash off built-up dust and dirt. You can do this while standing on the ground – we strongly advise against you climbing on your roof for any reason.
