New York Home Solar Incentives1

The New York State Solar Equipment Tax credit helps reduce state tax payments by up to $5,000 or 25% off your total solar energy expenses, whichever is less. This incentive offers homeowners the choice to lease or buy, because you don't have to purchase a system to claim the credit and, if your tax liability isn't big enough to claim the entire credit during the first year, you can roll it over and claim the credit the following year.
